Pride in Medway 2017

I was very honoured to be one of the finalists at the Pride in Medway awards 2017. Although it was a great honour to be nominated and shortlisted, the major achievement was actually getting there. I have never been to an awards night, or even out to a party but thought this was something that couldn’t be missed. Dosed up on morphine to get through the pain, my carer and mum took me. Being outside and away from the world of one room was strange because everything suddenly became so loud – I mean really loud!

I managed to stay for two hours if not longer and it was a wonderful evening, with some very special people there. It is just so hard that afterwards one has to suffer so very much. At least there was a good reason for the payback for once!
