Alpha-Z is the latest book of short stories from The Lil’ Author Skool. It has a fantastic array of stories from children as young as six, to teenagers.
There really is a story for everyone in this book and it is refreshing to see all the incredible imaginations at work. From six year old, Ellie Bishop, who wrote an advanced story called The Lost Giraffe, highlights the fabulous talent that is represented.
I particularly enjoyed one of the winning stories, Almost Human by Jessica Burn, which was about a robot having human feelings. It had a fantastically mature tone, which made it a fabulous read.
I also really enjoyed Moving On by Cody Burgess, as it sensitively tells a tale of how life changes for an old man at the death of his wife. It was an emotive read that really got to my heartstrings.
There really is a story for everyone and it is wonderful to see the incredible new talent that The Lil’ Author Skool has found. It was a quick and easy read, which would be perfect for young readers who don’t quite have the concentration of following a long story or it would be a great bedtime story! I think it is a must read to encourage kids to to get reading too. The stories are all engaging and it would make a perfect present for children to get stuck into over the holidays.
I love reading but find it a bit more challenging since becoming chronically unwell. I found that I did not have to think too much about what I was reading, but entered a different world with every story. Not only do you travel through time and space in the stories, it gives a voice to talented youngsters across the world.
The Lil’ Author Skool was founded by A. Bello, who first wrote about her book series ‘Emily Knight I am’ at the age of twelve. It is great to see a book competition that can attract young voices from all over the world to have the opportunity to have their short story published.
It was a joy to read this book and I look forward to seeing more books from The Lil’ Author Skool. Having book competitions like this one, reminds me of such a happy time in my childhood, where I would just write short stories for fun at school.
